Discover one of northern Iran’s most unique winter experiences with our 1-day Shah-Dezh ski touring adventure. Located on the border of Semnan and Sari provinces, near the lush Kiasar region, Shah-Dezh offers a rare combination of alpine peaks, deep forests, and coastal humidity that creates exceptional powder conditions when the snow is fresh.
Shah-Dezh Ski touring program
Our journey begins in the charming village of Langar (1,500 m), where we start skinning up through beautiful forest terrain toward the summit of Shah-Dezh Peak (2,815 m). Led by local and IFMGA-certified guides, this one-day backcountry skiing in Shah-Dezh trip is ideal for skiers who love combining mountain adventure with the magic of forest freeriding.
Because of Shah-Dezh’s low altitude and proximity to the Caspian Sea, this area receives humid, moisture-rich snow — making it crucial to plan the tour right after a new snowfall and during the coldest midwinter days. When the timing is perfect, the conditions are extraordinary: light, deep powder snow through dense beech forests, surrounded by incredible views of the Alborz foothills.

This is a pure freeride skiing in Kiasar forests experience — a blend of physical challenge, natural beauty, and the joy of carving fresh lines in untouched snow. With an elevation gain of about 1,300 meters and a variety of terrain, Shah-Dezh offers rewarding descents and a truly wild mountain atmosphere, all within a single unforgettable day.

Itinerary
We start early in the morning from Langar village, ascending gradually through the forest. The route takes us from 1,500 m to the 2,815 m summit of Shah-Dezh. Along the way, we’ll pass through dense beech trees and open glades that promise amazing downhill lines. After reaching the top, we’ll enjoy long, flowing descents through pristine powder snow — the perfect combination of alpine and forest skiing.
Depending on snow and weather conditions, our guides will choose the safest and most rewarding lines for the descent. The trip ends by mid-afternoon with a return to Langar village, where we’ll wrap up the day over tea and local snacks, celebrating a short but intense Shah-Dezh ski touring adventure in one of Iran’s hidden winter gems.
