Alam Kuh ski Expedition : Trip Overview

Mount Alam Kuh (4,850 m) rises in the Takht-e Soleyman range, part of the central Alborz mountains. Known as the “Iranian Alps”, this region is packed with dramatic ridges, wide snowfields, and breathtaking glaciers. While the north face attracts world-class climbers, its southern slopes offer ideal ski touring terrain.

The adventure begins with a drive from Tehran to Vandarbon or Rudbarak, traditional villages at the foot of the massif. Itinerary

Arrival in Tehran – Transfer to Vandarbon
Pick-up from airport. Drive north via Chalus Road to Rudbarak or Vandarbon (~5–6 hrs). Equipment check.
Overnight: Guesthouse in Vandarbon

Ascent Toward Hesarchal – Camp Setup
Start trekking/ski touring from Vandarbon toward Hesarchal valley.
Establish camp for overnight stay in Hesarchal.
Overnight: Mountain camp in Hesarchal

Summit Attempt (Alam Kuh or Surrounding 4,000 m Peaks)
Depending on weather conditions and team strength, attempt to summit Alam Kuh (4,850 m) or one of the nearby 4,000 m peaks around the camp.
Overnight: Mountain camp in Hesarchal

Reserve Day
This day is reserved in case of weather delays or other unforeseen circumstances affecting the schedule.
Overnight: Mountain camp or Vandarbon (depending on progress)

Return to Tehran
Descend from Hesarchal to Vandarbon.
Enjoy local culture or short nature walks before driving back to Tehran.

    This is a moderate to expert-level ski touring adventure. Participants should have good endurance and backcountry skiing experience to fully enjoy the ascent and descent of Alam Kuh
